After Microsoft and Google, Opera is integrating AI-generated content services into its browsers

We're only two months into 2023, and it already appears that this will be the year of artificial intelligence. Since Microsoft and Google announced their AI-powered tools, the rise of Artificial Intelligence has been all that industry professionals can talk about. Now, Opera has joined the bandwagon and plans to incorporate AI into its web browsers and content apps. In this article, we have explained how opera is integrating AI-generated content services into its browsers.

Opera announced in an official blog post that it is integrating AI-generated content (AIGC) services into its PC and mobile browsers.

The company is also 'taking steps to expand its existing AI programme into AIGC for its browser, news, and gaming products through its solutions and new and existing partnerships'.

Opera has announced a new feature for its browser's sidebar. The 'shorten' tool, which is powered by ChatGPT, can be used to generate summaries of webpages and articles. The blog also includes a short demo video that shows how ChatGPT will be integrated into the browser.

"In more than 25 years of our company's history, we have always been at the forefront of browser innovation," said Song Lin, Co-CEO of Opera, in a blog post. We always push the boundaries of what's possible on the web, whether it's by inventing browser tabs or providing our users with built-in access to generative AI tools. Following the widespread interest in generative AI tools, we believe it is now time for browsers to step up and become the gateway to an AI-powered web".

"We see the rise of Generative Intelligence as the beginning of a new future in which consumer app developers like Opera will be able to build experiences on top of AI-based platforms. We are excited to see the rapid roll-out of developer programmes for solutions like Google Bard, for example, and are beginning to build and roll out new experiences in web browsing that seemed impossible not long ago," added Per Wetterdal, Head of Strategic Partnerships and AI ecosystem at Opera.

However, the new feature from Open AI has not been yet made available to all users.
