MS Paint, an iconic application with decades of history, is about to undergo a transformation that might surprise and excite its users. Microsoft Paint could be the next Windows app to get AI enhancement. The ability to create a canvas from a text prompt is one of the AI-powered features that Microsoft is looking into adding to the app in windows 11 according to a report from Windows Central.
According to sources speaking with Windows Central, the AI feature would use the same engine as Bing's Image Creator, a tool that generates images based on your descriptions. The integration is depicted in what looks to be an internal mock-up that Windows Central uploaded.
The graphic displays a "Magic Paint" button and a sidebar where you can describe an image to be created. It appears that you may then move that image to your canvas to make any necessary adjustments, but it's still too early to say with certainty how it will function.
According to Windows Central, Microsoft may integrate optical character recognition (OCR) technology into both the Snipping Tool and the Camera app. This would make it possible for each program to recognize text in images or screenshots, making it much simpler to copy and paste data from these files.
Microsoft is reportedly seeking to introduce AI tools to Photos, the Camera app, and the Snipping Tool in addition to Paint. That might entail adding a new feature to Photos that enables you to recognize individuals or objects in a picture and then copy and paste them into different places.
Microsoft has recently made significant investments in artificial intelligence (AI), introducing new AI technologies across its product line, including Copilot in Windows 11, Edge, and other apps. Microsoft has not yet announced a release date for this feature, but we may anticipate hearing more at the upcoming event in September.
When Windows' next major update arrives in 2024, Microsoft intends to more thoroughly integrate AI into the operating system. The AI capabilities in Windows 11 are currently just at a surface level, but sources claim that the next major update will extensively incorporate AI experiences.
