Indian Army Encourages Potent AI Mechanism To Reduce Manpower Dependency

The Indian Army is planning to roll out an AI-powered system to reduce human errors and over-dependence on manpower. The blueprint of setting up artificial intelligence system will be out soon.

This AI-fueled capability will allow India to match the level of its enemies. China is way ahead of India as AI enables them to mobilize fast due to smart surveillance.

The Indian army is only dependent on foot patrols in the inhospitable terrains including the Chinese frontier and along the LOC (Line of Control). But the advanced technology of AI could flag any movement and provide with specific locations making surveillance stronger than ever.

Col Aman Anand, Indian Army spokesperson said, "To be more accurate, more efficient and engage our main resource 'the man' more potently and effectively, we need to harness the AI in our platforms as well as our procedures. We have embarked on this journey with vigor."

As reported by some sources, certain critical gaps have been identified in the current artificial intelligence framework. When it comes to the weapon system, the probability of human error is still very high.

An official stated that, "To minimize this, a plan is being drawn up to engage with industry and have a platform for artificial talent intelligence."

Lt Gen Alok Singh Kler, general officer commanding in chief (GOC-in-C) of South Western Army Command said, "For using AI for military usage and mechanized forces, the Army has to become completely network-centric. Presently, we are very network-enabled."

He further added that in the next 2-3 years, the Indian Army may be inducting artificial intelligence for constructive and disruptive usage and the first one to use that will be the mechanize forces.

The Indian Army is conducting a fresh and novel brainstorming session at the field formation level in Hisar to establish proper interaction with experts and industry representatives in order to boost its artificial intelligence system.

The 'one of its kind' session is being organized by the Jaipur-based South Western Command of the Indian Army. The session's discussions will be focused on how AI can bolster capabilities and turn mechanized warfare more efficient.

The session will aim at bringing together professionals in the field, eminent speakers from the defense induction, academia, officers with subject matter expertise and brainstorm the way ahead with an objective to identify & conceptualize AI-based defense applications and platforms for the future battlefield.

The seminar platform will provide an opportunity to discuss research and development for future weapon platforms.
