Google yesterday made available for public use MusicLM, an AI-powered tool that can turn language descriptions into music. The AI model will be further refined using your usage of the app and comments, it should be emphasized, since the current version is only meant to be used for training. A waitlist can be used to access the tool. It also released Text-to-Music AI and MusicLM now available to use for everyone.
According to Google's press announcement, if you merely put in a phrase like "ambient, soft-sounding music I can study too," MusicLM will create two song versions for you to choose from. You may even give a more detailed prompt, specifying the instrument and atmosphere you want. You may listen to both versions that the AI creates and select your favorite. Google intends to improve this tool's functionality using user feedback.
The tech juggernaut showed out MusicLM in January but stated that there were "no immediate plans" to make it available due to several factors, including its propensity to include copyrighted content from training data into the produced songs.
Since these AI music generators are trained on existing music to replicate comparable effects, generative music has long raised questions regarding copyright infringement. The same is true of AI-produced visual art. Several artists have filed lawsuits alleging that their work was improperly exploited to train AI systems. According to reports, Spotify pulled hundreds of AI-generated songs from startup Boomy over the course of the previous month in response to a complaint from Universal Music Group, a large global music company.
Google has been collaborating with artists like Dan Deacon and holding workshops, according to a blog post it published in the meanwhile, to "see how this generative ai services technology can empower the creative process." Users must join a waitlist to utilize this cutting-edge gadget, though. Additionally, the application's users' generated data will be used to further train the AI system.
