IIM Ahmedabad to Offer PGP in Advanced Business Analytics from 2020

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, announced to offer a 16-month post-graduate diploma programme in Advanced Business Analytics (PGP-ABA) from the academic year 2020. The programme will be offered through a mix of online classes and on-campus classroom lectures. This PGP-ABA curriculum is designed by experts in the field and aimed at working professionals.

The purpose behind the PGP-ABA course is to upskill and prepare students for the future in taking up leadership positions and helping them to develop the necessary skills and harvest the knowledge required to assess unstructured data and ask the right questions to derive actionable decisions. The programme will also help working professionals to become better decision-makers.

Since a huge volume of unstructured data available all around, it is significant for businesses to process it to derive logical and insightful conclusions from it. The analysis from data can be highly beneficial to an organization as well as society. However, the post-graduate diploma in Advanced Business Analytics can assist aspirants to utilize the right and accurate method to extract imperative data to enrich the decision-making process.

IIM, Ahmedabad Director, Errol D'Souza said, "This course enables students to deploy methodologies to extricate significant information from data and enrich decision making that unlocks value for all stakeholders."

Programme Structure

The programme provides working professionals a framework to transform data into meaningful insights that are coupled into an effective business decision-making process. It will focus on developing blended expertise in data literacy, data processing, and business acumen. This post-graduate diploma program will also offer several analytical tools and provide professionals with the necessary exposure and techniques to employ them to solve business issues.

Its structure is designed in a way that applies classroom lectures and online learning modules to train the participants.

On launching this programme, Tathagata Bandyopadhyay, Chairperson of PGP-ABA, IIMA, said, "IIMA believes in delivering high-quality programmes, with emphasis on experiential learning and this programme is no exception. Besides explaining the theoretical underpinning of the tools and techniques, emphasis will be given on hands-on learning using a variety of data sets from various domains of applications. Finally, you will be exposed to the domain-specific application of analytics in two chosen domains from different business vertical and Public Policy."

In September this year, IIM Ahmedabad registered significant improvement in its ranking in QS World MBA Ranking 2019, with a big leap of 8 positions from 48th Rank in 2019 to 40th Rank in 2020.
