Google Calendar to stop supporting old Android devices soon

IndustryTrends

Google Calendar will stop working on devices running Android 7.1 (Nougat) or older versions soon.

Users with unsupported operating systems will be prompted to update to Android 8 (Oreo) or higher for continued access to the app.

The reason behind this change is likely related to security concerns, as older Android versions are more vulnerable to risks such as vulnerabilities, attacks, and data loss.

This is a common practice in the tech industry, as developers drop support for older operating systems to keep their apps up-to-date, feature-rich, and secure.

Users can either stick with the current Calendar app version by disabling auto-updates or installing an older version, or update their device to a newer Android version, or get a new phone.
