Instagram is reportedly testing a major redesign of its profile page as the Meta-owned social media platform plans to replace the familiar square grid with vertical rectangles.
The report also claimed that Instagram has acknowledged that the current square format is sub-optimal for the predominantly vertical content that is being uploaded more.
The new layout aims to better showcase content, it may disrupt a profile’s carefully curated aesthetics for some users.
Instagram has reportedly confirmed the test and has suggested that user feedback will influence whether the change will be implemented widely.
According to a report by The Verge, some users are now being able to see this change.
