Google Messages now includes enhanced scam detection, focusing on package delivery scams and job frauds, using on-device AI to identify and warn users about suspicious messages.

The app introduces intelligent URL warnings, scanning links for potential threats like malware and phishing sites, and alerting users before they click.

A new feature automatically hides messages from unknown international senders, reducing the risk of exposure to international scams.

Google Messages also adds nudity blurring for images, with the feature enabled by default for users under 18, and optional for adults.

The app now includes a contact verification system, using public keys to confirm the identity of senders and protect against spoofing attempts.
