The UK's National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) has accused Apple of significantly underreporting the prevalence of CSAM on its platforms

In 2023, Apple reported only 267 cases of suspected CSAM to the (NCMEC), compared to millions of cases reported by other tech giants like Google and Meta.

The NSPCC highlighted that Apple was implicated in 337 CSAM cases in England and Wales alone between April 2022 and March 2023, which is more than what Apple reported globally for the entire year

Apple's services like iMessage, FaceTime, and iCloud use end-to-end encryption, which prevents the company from viewing the contents of user communications

Child safety experts are urging Apple to enhance its efforts in detecting and reporting CSAM, especially in light of upcoming regulations like the UK's Online Safety Act
