Toshiba, one of Japan’s most well-known companies, announced Thursday that Toshiba to Cut 4000 Jobs in Japan as part of a restructuring plan under its new owners. According to a Reuters report, the redundancies will affect around 6 percent of the company’s workforce in Japan. The company also plans to shift its head office operations from Tokyo’s central business district to Kawasaki, west of Tokyo.

Toshiba hopes that these changes will help it become more profitable in the coming three years. In December last year, Toshiba was sold for US$13 billion to a group led by JIP, a private investment firm, ending a decade of scandals and financial woes for the company.
