For example, if you want to summarize a lengthy article on renewable energy, you might prompt the AI to focus specifically on solar power advancements. This ensures the output captures the essence of the topic without veering into unrelated content.

7. Template Filling

A template filling technique has a certain flexibility. The AI is given a template along with placeholders. The content depends on different inputs while the format remains the same. Template filling is particularly used for tasks such as product description, personalized e-mail, and other structured content.

Prompt combination is a powerful method that involves merging multiple instructions or questions into one prompt to elicit a comprehensive response. This technique is useful when you need the AI to address various facets of a topic in a single output.

For example, you could combine prompts like “What are the benefits of renewable energy?” and “What are the challenges of implementing it?” into a single query. The AI will then generate an answer that covers both the advantages and the hurdles of renewable energy adoption.

10. Chain-of-Thought Prompting

Chain-of-thought prompts is an advanced technique that moves the AI forward through some kind of progression of closely related prompts or examples towards a better and more complete answer. This method helps to work through challenging questions that would call for dissecting an argument into step-by-step logical operations.

This technique, breaking the question down into several tiny pieces that one can ask out and then addressing it will provide something more substantial than just a singular response. For example, while researching the effects of artificial intelligence on healthcare, you will most likely come up with a smaller question that asks the AI to define what AI is, to explain how it's being used in healthcare, and then finally what ethics are involved. This process will give the AI something structured to go after to ensure that the AI yields a comprehensive answer.
