New Features in Google Chrome for iOS Users

Aayushi Jain

Google has rolled out 4 exciting new features for Chrome users on iPhones and iPads, aimed at improving browsing efficiency and overall user experience. The updates focus on enhancing search capabilities, storage solutions, shopping insights, and navigation tools. These features, introduced on November 13, 2024, are designed to streamline your browsing, whether you’re searching, shopping, or saving content.

One major feature is Google Lens with Image and Text Search. iPhone users can now search using both images and text at the same time. Previously, Google Lens only supported image-based search. Now, you can refine your search with text, helping deliver more accurate results. To use this, simply tap the camera icon in the Google Search bar to start your search.

Storage solutions are also improved. Chrome now allows you to save downloaded files and images directly to Google Drive and Google Photos. For files, you can store them in a "Saved from Chrome" folder in Drive, freeing up storage space on your device. Images can be saved to Google Photos with just a long-press, making content management easier than ever.

Chrome introduces Shopping Insights to help users in the U.S. find the best deals online. When a great deal is detected, a "Good Deal Now" notification appears in the address bar. By tapping it, you can access price history, price tracking, and alternative purchasing options, ensuring you always make informed buying decisions.

Navigation has also been simplified. If you come across an address on a webpage, you can now tap the underlined address to view a mini-map directly in Chrome. This eliminates the need to switch between Chrome and Google Maps for quick location info. The feature is being rolled out globally and will be available soon for all users worldwide.

These updates are part of Google’s ongoing effort to enhance user experience on iPhones and iPads. By integrating these features, Chrome becomes a more powerful tool for browsing, shopping, and saving content. With improved functionality, iPhone users can get the most out of their device without the need for additional apps.

The new Chrome features are being gradually rolled out and will soon be available to all iPhone and iPad users worldwide. To make the most of these features, ensure you're signed into your Google account.
