The iPhone SE 4 is expected to be officially launched in March 2024, bringing with it a host of exciting updates for Apple’s more affordable line. According to Barclays analyst Tom O'Malley, several key suppliers in Asia have hinted at the design and features, signaling an important step forward for Apple in offering an accessible yet modern iPhone to a broader audience.

Unlike the previous generation of iPhones in the SE series, the iPhone SE 4 will move away from the old iPhone 8 design. Instead, it will sport a larger 6.1-inch OLED display, offering vibrant colors and a superior viewing experience. The device will feature slimmer bezels, taking inspiration from the more modern design language of the iPhone 14, giving it a contemporary look and feel.

A major update on the iPhone SE 4 will be the inclusion of Face ID for more secure authentication, a feature that has been missing from Apple’s budget-friendly models in the past. This would replace the traditional Touch ID button, bringing the iPhone SE lineup in line with other more premium iPhones and ensuring enhanced security, faster unlocking, and a better user experience for all users.

In terms of performance, the iPhone SE 4 will likely come with the newest A-series chip, offering powerful performance improvements over previous generations. This upgrade will ensure faster processing, smoother multitasking, and better power efficiency, all while maintaining the affordability of the iPhone SE. Additionally, 8GB RAM will likely be included, allowing for seamless operation of Apple’s advanced features, such as enhanced multitasking and AI-powered capabilities.a

The camera system will also see a major upgrade, with the iPhone SE 4 rumored to feature a 48-megapixel rear camera for improved photo quality. This camera will allow users to take sharper, more detailed photos, even in low-light conditions, and take full advantage of Apple’s advanced image processing software. In addition, the switch to a USB-C port will align the device with Apple’s recent transition, providing faster data transfer speeds and compatibility with a broader range of accessories.

One of the most intriguing features of the iPhone SE 4 could be the introduction of Apple’s own 5G modem. After years of relying on Qualcomm’s technology, Apple has reportedly been developing its in-house modem, which could offer improved performance, better connectivity, and faster speeds for users. This move could significantly reduce Apple’s reliance on third-party suppliers, giving the company more control over its devices' technology and future updates.

Despite all the exciting new features, the iPhone SE 4 may come with a modest price increase. The current model starts at $429, and with the enhanced specs, this new version could be priced around US$449 to US$499, still making it one of the most affordable options in Apple’s iPhone lineup. Fans of the iPhone SE who have been waiting for a modern design with upgraded performance may find this new model worth the investment, especially considering the new technology and features it brings to the table.
