India has experienced a massive outage in the network of Reliance Jio today due to a fire at the giant’s Mumbai data center. From noon, many subscribers reported malfunctioning in mobile services, internet data, and JioFiber.
Platform monitoring services in real-time like Downdetector recorded around 10,369 complaints by midday. A little over 62% of the report, was of a "No signal" problem, followed closely by 20% who had an issue with internet connectivity.
The outage had also brought down the Jio website, and the users were receiving "ERR_TIMED_OUT" errors. Complaints were also there against JioTV+ and Airfiber Wifi, which created frustration across a large section of the user's end.
Complaints and memes with #Jio Down were overflowing on social media platforms.
This has left the telecom giants’ loyal customers in turmoil as they couldn’t access any of their latest gadgets and apps for hours.
Reliance Jio, however, corrected the prevailing situation in the later hours of the day and reported some minor technical issues as reasons behind the disruptions. The firm confirmed that normal services are now fully restored. The MyJio app is now up and running but the Jio website has become intermittently accessible.
In a statement, a Reliance Jio spokesperson said, “This morning, some Jio customers in Mumbai faced problems in availing seamless services on account of minor technical issues. The same has been resolved, and the seamless services of Jio have been fully restored. We regret the inconvenience to our subscribers.”
Indian telecom giant having about 489 million subscribers, apologized for the inconvenience caused. The company’s rivals Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea didn’t experience any similar problems, sparking the #Jio Down, Airtel Up memes on social media.
