On September 4, 2024, Intel unveiled a new Core Ultra 200V processor codenamed Lunar Lake.
The idea behind these advanced chips was to push hard on powerful AI PCs, promising up to 50% improved graphics performance and about 40% less power on a year-over-year basis.
Laptops with such processors are going to hit the pre-order shelves starting on September 24, 2024.
The Lunar Lake architecture, which maintains optimized energy efficiency and performance, is put to work in the Core Ultra 200V processors. These house a combination of Efficient-cores and Performance-cores. The lighter tasks will be done by the E-cores, while the heavy loads go to the P-cores, which then shut down to save battery life. This concept has increased the battery life by 40% and performance by 50%.
With that, Intel's Core Ultra 200V series promises to slice power consumption by as much as 40% compared to its predecessor.
