Google Photos has added AI-powered video presets as well as new video editing features. According to Monday's announcement by the tech giant, new tools improve user control over video editing, bringing new capabilities to the app.
For instance, while applying AI functionality for both Android and iOS users, some features are only available on Android.
Other features of the AI video presets include the ability to achieve multiple effects within a single tap. Android users also get three new editing tools, an updated trim tool, auto-enhance, and a speed tool. The company is rolling it out gradually, with full availability within the next few days.
Google Photos update has brought some features exclusively for Android users.
Video Trim Tool: A trim tool cuts at an exact frame detail to allow careful edits into video footage for those who might want to share with friends or on social media some key moments.
Auto-Enhance Button: The auto-enhance button corrects brightness, contrast, and lighting automatically. It also helps stabilize videos, making shaky footage appear more professional with just a single tap.
Speed Tool: There's also a speed tool that allows you to accelerate the playback. You can do fast-forward or slow-motion effects for the dramatic effects, like a key moment seeming to stretch in slow motion.
Google has also introduced new features to extend cross-device sharing capabilities on Android, kicking off with Android 11 and more. This makes it easy for Android users to share and sync their creative videos on Android devices seamlessly. Read more
The recently developed video presets with AI power are available for both, Android and iOS users. The presets automatically add effects to your video, from automatic trimming to adjusting lighting and carrying out automated speed control.
AI identifies the important moments and introduces some special effects, for example, dynamic motion tracking or zooming at key moments.
As part of a larger play by Google to make video editing not just mainstream but accessible, the update has streamlined the process of editing. After all, without professional tools, users can now produce high-quality videos because of the mechanical nature of the process involved.
This AI-powered Google Photos rollout is in phase, and users should receive the new feature by the end of the week.
