Google's latest AI Lens updates introduce voice and video queries for more natural, conversational searches.

Google has unveiled a range of updates related to its search feature. The feature will be based on artificial intelligence technology and aims to make acquiring information as natural as a conversation with a friend.

These updates, which incorporate voice and video queries through Google Lens, are designed to streamline users' interactions with search technology using natural language.

Voice Queries Through Google Lens

The first significant update integrates voice-based search commands within Google Lens. This feature allows users to activate the camera, hold the shutter button, and speak their queries directly into the device.

The technology is built to handle questions in real-time, offering responses as if one were conversing with another person. This voice input capability is now globally available to Android and iOS users but currently supports only English.

Google's implementation of voice queries in Lens represents a move towards more accessible and user-friendly search methods. It reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to enhancing user interaction with technology, making information retrieval faster and more intuitive.

Video-Based Search Functionality

Adding a layer of sophistication to its suite of search tools, Google has also rolled out video-based search queries in Google Lens. Users can now record a video while asking their questions aloud. Google’s AI analyzes video and audio inputs to generate an "AI Overview."

This overview includes a synthesized response and useful resources from the internet. This feature, initially previewed at Google’s I/O event earlier this year, is now available to users enrolled in the "AI Overviews and More" experiment on both Android and iOS platforms in English.

The video query feature enriches the user experience by providing contextual information based on visual and auditory inputs. It exemplifies Google’s push towards creating a more interactive and engaging search environment that goes beyond traditional text-based inputs.

AI-Organized Search Results

In addition to voice and video enhancements, Google has introduced AI-organized search result pages. Initially announced earlier this year and now rolling out to users in the US, this feature organizes search results into a full-page layout that allows users to explore diverse content types, such as articles, videos, forums, and more, tailored specifically to their queries.

This update includes the redesigned AI Overviews, which provide prominent links to supporting web pages directly within the text of an AI-generated summary. This structure aims to enhance the discoverability of relevant information, ensuring users comprehensively understand the topics they explore.
