Introducing the "Maker Lab on Wheels" is probably one of the most innovative educational steps taken in the Mahadevapura zone of Bengaluru. Launched this Monday this month-long program, serves the purpose of providing state-of-the-art tech education to the students starting from class 5 till the degree levels in STEM at Kadugodi Government First Grade College. The Mahadevapura PPP Education Task Force is leading this drive to bridge the gaps in AI and machine learning, assisted by tech giant, Infosys.
The "Maker Lab on Wheels" is an ultra-modern Volvo bus, fully equipped with smart class technology in air-conditioned comfort. The mobile lab conducts sessions in AI, robotics, microcontrollers, IoT, augmented reality, virtual reality, drones, and 3D printing through interactive sessions. Each session is planned to efficiently engage 20 students for an hour and educate as many as 80 students per day. The bus would stay longer than that, if the demand surpasses its capacity, to ensure interested students get their chance.
Hariprasad Reddy, Chairman, of Mahadevapura Task Force-PPP Education, said, "We are committed to giving the students in government schools valuable exposure to STEM fields. We would aim to reach about 100 schools and colleges in this constituency and provide them with training, along with hands-on experience in the different streams of STEM." This will give a competitive advantage to the students by upgrading their skills and knowledge in rapidly changing technology areas.
1. Custom Learning Paths Using AI Platforms: Tools like DreamBox and Carnegie Learning apply AI to build customized learning experiences. For instance, DreamBox uses adaptative maths lessons in real time based on student performance so that each student will see only the content relevant to their learning level and needs.
2. AI Tutors for Personalized Support: Squirrel AI provides customized tutoring in mathematics and other scientific disciplines. In creating customized lesson plans through data analytics of performances by students, Squirrel AI further tracks the progress of students in meeting the learning gaps of each learner.
3. AI for Engaging Language Learning: Duolingo uses AI to further language learning. The application automatically adapts exercises and feedback, including the use of machine learning, based on the progress and mistakes of the users. This makes the process of language acquisition more playful and interactive.
As the "Maker Lab on Wheels" gains stride, it brings a sea change in education by making quality employable technology training available to larger numbers of students. Advanced learning tools, along with expert instructions, come to schools and colleges on wheels in the wake of the program, setting fresh standards for mobile education while inspiring a new generation of technology innovators.
