OpenAI is weighing high-end subscription tiers for its most recent LLMs, "Strawberry" and "Orion," with monthly subscription prices of up to US$2,000 targeting an enterprise and high-end user base. That's quite a leap from the US$20 ChatGPT Plus monthly subscription cost recently passed around.
The "Strawberry" model, currently under development by OpenAI, is designed to enhance deep research capabilities via specialized post-training exercises. That is, large-scale training is first done, and then the base models are adapted for specific tasks new level in the quality and application of AI.
Recent reports suggest that Apple and Nvidia are in talks to invest in OpenAI for a deal potentially valuing the company above US$100 billion. This comes after the spectacular rise of ChatGPT, which is now at 200 million weekly active users, up from 100 million last fall.
“OpenAI's continued growth and innovation reflect our commitment to advancing AI capabilities and meeting the diverse needs of our users,” said Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI. The expansion, and its probable pricing, speak to OpenAI's strategy toward reaching more enterprise needs and capabilities
