Will a New Voice Assistant Takeover Google, Siri and Alexa in 2023?

Home Assistant will soon get a new voice assistant in the upcoming year. Know more about

Next year, Home Assistant, an open-source smart home platform, will get a new voice assistant that will enable users to communicate with the platform's assistant without using Google, Siri, or Alexa. According to Paulus Schoutsen, the creator of Home Assistant, users will be able to control the new assistant in their native tongue. As there are already other projects attempting to create an English voice assistant, the platform's top aim is to accommodate different languages.

The voice assistant for the smart home must allow users to "talk in their language, as that is the most accessible and only acceptable language." It's a lofty objective, but one that may be reached with the correct restrictions, according to Schoutsen.

Home Assistant is free and open-source home automation software that focuses on local control and privacy to serve as a centralized management platform for smart home devices. It can be used with companion apps for Android and iOS, a voice command using a supported virtual assistant like Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa, or through a web-based user interface.

About Home Assistance:

After being installed as a computer appliance, the Home Assistant software program will serve as a central hub for home automation, also known as a "smart home hub," to control IoT connectivity technology gadgets, programs, applications, and services that are supported by modular integration components, including native integration components for wireless communication protocols like Bluetooth, Zigbee, and Z-Wave (which are used to create local personal area networks with small low-power digital radios), Additionally, if they allow third-party integrations across a local area network or the internet using an Open API or MQTT, for instance, both open and proprietary ecosystems can be controlled.

Scripts that trigger automation using scheduling and "blueprint" subroutines can be used to use and control information from all devices and their attributes (entities) that the Home Assistant software application sees, for example, to control lighting, climate, entertainment systems, and home appliances.

Will a New Voice Assistant of Home Assistant Takeover Google, Siri and Alexa in 2023?

According to the Home Assistant's creator, customers should be able to operate their devices with the Voice Assistant, which is presently under development. Users will be able to skip Apple Siri, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant thanks to the assistant. This suggests that Google, Siri, and Alexa may be replaced in the coming years by the new voice assistant of Home Assistant.

The user interface of the Home Assistant platform currently supports 62 distinct languages (UI). The platform expects to offer voice commands for each of these languages going ahead. It is undoubtedly a big and audacious ambition to eliminate Home Assistant from Alexa, Siri, and Google, but Schoutsen noted that it is doable with the proper limitations. We don't yet know what restrictions he was alluding to. The creator of the open-source smart home platform did, however, mention that the Voice Assistant in Home Assistant will only be able to listen and perform a limited set of tasks. The "basics of engaging with your smart home" will be the main topic, according to Schoutsen.

Conclusion: Despite its drawbacks, this represents a significant advancement in a smart home's privacy and security. To function, any voice assistant in use today needs an internet connection. The Home Assistant solution is advertised as being entirely regional. To put it another way, whatever the owner of a smart appliance says to operate a voice-activated device won't leave the house.
