Twitter is now owned by Elon Musk, but what he wishes to do with it is still questionable.

After weeks of back and forth leading to massive controversies and debates, Elon Musk has finally sealed the Twitter deal for US$44 million. But the question is what will Elon Musk now do with Twitter? The fact that he is aiming to make Twitter an advocate of free speech has got Twitteratis questioning his intentions and also the platform's future prospects. As the new owner of one of the world's biggest social media platforms, Elon Musk will now try to improve the several aspects of Twitter that he considers failures. Now that the shareholders have finally accepted his bid, Twitter is set to function under the private ownership of Elon Musk, and it seems like to push through all the plans that he has for the platform. As we know, Musk has a knack for theatrics but will he really be able to extend his 'free speech absolutist' concept over the platform?

Elon Musk's idea of making Twitter a model for free speech platforms is highly criticized by Twitter officials and other platform users. To extend his free speech goals, Musk will have to loosen up the rules for content, which might eventually lead to the excessive spread of misinformation, and enhance social media harassment. In fact, the tech billionaire has actually argued that social media networks should not remove comments just because they are offensive unless it's illegal. Social media analysts and experts also fear that relaxing the rules on the content will empower those individuals who look for various ways to exploit the platform on political grounds.

Earlier, a few weeks ago, Musk polled about the introduction of an edit button that would let users flix typos in their posts and make other tweaks. Most Twitter users claimed that they would love to see an edit button. Twitter has already experimented with the edit button. The 'Blue' subscription holders would be subjected to such facilities. Also, there is another question that still remains unanswered, now that Elon owns Twitter, will he now make the platform's algorithm an open-source one? Well, only time will tell. Just like only time will tell what will an Elon-owned Twitter look like in the future.
