Twitter Empties! Elon Calls ‘Anyone Left’ to Explain to Him the Tech

Elon Musk is looking for anyone who can help him understand the technical work of Twitter

Elon Musk is requesting assistance from any remaining Twitter workers who may be able to help him perform technical tasks, even requesting that they fly to San Francisco to meet with him. A large number of Twitter employees and staff left the company in protest of a previous Musk deadline.

After an ultimatum Musk issued earlier in the week, hundreds of Twitter employees resign in large numbers as a result of his notes. Twitter employees were given the option to leave or accept working for his "very hardcore" version of "Twitter 2.0," the billionaire Musk said. Around 2,000 employees, or more than half of those still employed by the firm after a round of Twitter layoffs earlier this month, chose the latter choice and resigned. Twitter empties after everything that has been going on since Elon Musk took over as Twitter's CEO. This is no good sign for the firm.

Around midnight, Musk requested a meeting with "anyone who builds software" in a series of emails. He instructed everyone to gather at 2 p.m. PT on the 10th floor of Twitter's San Francisco headquarters, where he has been working since nearly three weeks ago when he assumed control of the business. Before sending Musk their code over the previous six months, staff members were instructed to provide him a "bullet point description" of it through email, along with "up to 10 screenshots of the most important lines of code."

Anyone who intends to work from home should provide Musk with the same code details and images. He said, "I'll attempt to video chat with you."

Then Musk asked that any workers who might be in locations other than San Francisco "travel to SF to be there in person" when they met with him. Twitter managers informed the remaining staff that they may deduct the cost of their travel to meet with Musk.

The emails highlight how Musk's layoffs and "so many people calling his bluff," as one former engineer described it, have significantly reduced Twitter's ranks.

Three sources informed Insider that several departments inside the corporation are no longer employing anyone. The resignations on Thursday had a significant impact on accounting and finance, since all payroll, US tax, and financial reporting staff had left by that point, according to Insider. According to a former employee, Twitter's information security department, which was in charge of guarding user data, has essentially been eliminated, along with the company's communications department.

According to Insider and Fortune, between 1,000 and 1,200 people have resigned from their jobs as a result of Musk's efforts to redesign Twitter. It seems that Musk did not foresee the widespread exodus, which has reduced Twitter's workforce from over 7,000 just a few weeks ago to just over 2,000 today. Musk looks to be becoming agitated because he invited the whole staff to come on a team call, particularly the coding talent, and urged them to provide the most pertinent piece of code they had ever produced for Twitter.

However, given the perilous state in which Twitter currently finds itself, there is much talk on social media that the service may collapse. Days after Musk sealed the deal, Twitter has already started bringing back some of the workers who were let go in the first round of a huge reorganization.

The whole board has disappeared, senior security and compliance experts have also departed, the personnel responsible for content moderation has been severely reduced, and the teams in charge of the core systems have been completely dismantled. Musk, on the other side, recently stated that "the best people are staying," so he isn't concerned.

The first three weeks of Musk's ownership of Twitter have been characterized by quick change and volatility. The former CEO of Twitter and other top executives were swiftly ousted, and earlier this month, he lay off half of the company's workers.

Musk used the Latin phrase "Vox Populi, Vox Dei," which roughly translates to "the voice of the people is the voice of God," to announce the results of his poll on whether to return Trump to the platform. There was a 24-hour polling period.

Musk promised in May to lift Trump's account suspension from Twitter, which followed the attack on the US Capitol last year.

Trump's account may yet be reinstated, according to Musk, who also claimed that Twitter had reinstated some banned or suspended accounts, such as the satirical website Babylon Bee and the comedian Kathy Griffin, who was suspended for using the handle "Elon Musk" on Twitter.
