Top 10 Must-Have Libraries for Java Developers

Shiva Ganesh

This article will look at the top ten libraries for Java developers which are utilized in Java apps

A Java library is a collection of pre-written code that developers may use to construct sophisticated programs and swiftly execute everyday programming tasks. Furthermore, as a Java developer, you should understand how leveraging Java libraries may minimize repetition while reducing development time.

1.Java Standard Libraries: These built-in Java libraries are sometimes neglected, although they contain some powerful functionality. Several Java Standard libraries assist newcomers in consolidating their notions until Java. Math, Java. Lang, Java.io, and Java.net. The Java Virtual Machine calls the Java Standard Library during runtime.

 2. Apache Commons: It is one of the most popular general-purpose, fully-featured utility-classes packages that enhance the functionality of the Java API. It comprises 43 modular libraries that span Java classes, I/O utilities, Mathematics and Statistics, Logging, JDBC assistance, and Java Collections framework expansion.

3. Jackson: Jackson is yet another fast and popular Java library that aids in mapping Java objects to JSON and vice versa. Because it is quick and has a small memory footprint, it is perfect for serializing complex object systems. Jackson provides three methods to handle JSON files: Streaming API, Data Binding, and Tree Model.

4. Google Guava: Google Guava, like Apache Commons, comprises distinct modules such as utilities, collections, text processing, and Java concurrency. Google Guava's main features are Java Collections Framework augmentation, I/O utilities, Bitmaps, graph libraries, and Caching.

5. Junit: Developers may use JUnit to design test cases that run unit tests to find and repair code faults. Unit testing evaluates the relationship and behavior of a small application unit independently of the entire application.

6. Log5j: A contemporary front end for the most widely used logging framework, Log4j. It is one of the quickest and lightest Java logging libraries. Log5j provides methods such as error, logo, debug, and traces for dynamic logging method formatting, which is useful when no recorded messages exist.

7. SLF4J: A simple abstraction connects multiple frameworks' appropriate logging deployment time. SLF4J's key features include fundamental logging system abstraction, logging framework customization, and an event logger for event recording.

8. Mockito: It is the most popular Java mocking library, and it may be used to simulate the behavior of other classes in a simple or complicated Java program. Its basic API keeps your unit/integration testing process clean and easy. It also allows for annotation-based mocks and spy injections.

9. JAXB: XML is another data format used in Java for data storage, validation, and transmission. The annotations in the JAXB package assist Java programmers in binding, validating, and supporting mapping XML schema features.

10. AssertJ: Another testing library is AssertJ. Testing entails determining if the test result matches what was expected. It is used to make the test code more readable. AssertJ provides specific static data structure techniques. AssertJ's primary features include fluent assertion for improved code readability, core modules for Java libraries, SQL databases, and so on.
