In the United States, Samsung has released the S Pen Creator Edition, a competitor to the Apple Pencil. The S Pen Creator Edition costs US$99. It is a significantly enhanced edition from the one packed with Samsung tablets. According to Samsung, it is the most sophisticated S Pen yet.
The S Pen Creator Edition was first unveiled with the introduction of the Galaxy Tab S9 series in July 2023, and it has just been released in South Korea.
This variant of the S Pen is aimed at creative professionals, with features such as increased tilt sensitivity and enhanced grip.
The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and higher, Galaxy Note10 and higher, Galaxy Tab S Series, and PCs currently supporting the existing S Pen are all compatible with the S Pen Creator Edition. It is incompatible with any Galaxy Z series folding device.
The S Pen Creator Edition resembles the Apple Pencil in appearance. The S Pen Creator Edition is only available in white and features a single button on the side for interacting with tools in creative apps, such as toggling between pen and rubber functionalities. The stylus has no batteries and does not need to be charged. Similarly, to an Apple Pencil, the stylus' flat side may magnetically connect to compatible Galaxy Tab tablets for storage. It has an IPX4 rating, which indicates it can tolerate small splashes, but it offers less protection than the inexpensive S Pen, which has a submersible IP68 classification.
The S Pen Creator Edition comes with its unique set of creative functions, making it an excellent choice for artists and designers. The Creator Edition of the S Pen, on the other hand, has several limitations identical to the vanilla S Pen. Air Commands, which enable users to access various functions while hovering over the screen easily, are not supported.
