Apple iPhone 16 is making headlines all over the internet and brings an unexpected twist

Future Apple's iPhone 16 models for 2024 are already generating headlines, and the most recent information adds an unexpected twist. Tech analyst Jeff Pu of Haitong International Securities, who recently verified the price hike for the iPhone 15, has disclosed that the much-debated solid-state volume buttons are now unlikely to be included even in iPhone 16 variants. According to Forbes, the feature was delayed owing to technical difficulties during mass manufacturing and would not be included on the iPhone 15 or iPhone 16.

Solid-state volume controls have been removed from iPhone 16 versions

When pressed, solid-state volume buttons do not physically move. They instead use haptic feedback to simulate the experience of pushing a button. This technology is employed in the Home button on the iPhone 7 and the Force Touch trackpad on later MacBooks.

These buttons may have advantages such as fewer moving parts, a lower chance of mechanical failure, and increased water resistance by removing water entrance sites.

Some people, however, are concerned about this technology. Early iPhone 15 designs included flat volume controls that were only possible to touch by looking, making it difficult for people accustomed to conventional buttons. Custom swipe motions were also supported, which added complexity. Although these volume buttons will not be featured in the release, one solid-state button will remain – the Action Button – which will replace the mute switch on iPhone 15 Pro models.

Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro will have bigger screens

This isn't the only leak regarding the iPhone 16 from Pu. Last month, Display Supply Chain Consultants CEO Ross Young reported that Apple intends to expand the screen size of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 Pro, according to Young, will feature a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a 6.9-inch display. This size increase for the smaller Pro model should enable the adoption of a periscope optical zoom lens, which was not allowed in the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro chassis this year.

Larger iPhones provide advantages such as additional battery space, larger camera modules, and superior thermal performance. On the other hand, fans of smaller handsets were let down when Apple dropped the 5.5-inch iPhone 13 Mini in favor of the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus last year.
