Adani Group and Uber Plans to Launch Electric Cars in India

According to The Economic Times, the Adani Group is now developing a strategic cooperation with ride-sharing platform Uber to provide electric cars. The collaboration also plans to incorporate Uber services into Adani One, which was launched in 2022. The Chairman, Gautam Adani, met with Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi on February 24 on his visit to India and hinted at potential future partnerships between his conglomerate and the ride-hailing service.

Talking to X, both corporate executives welcomed their views about India's growth narrative and their vision for the country.

"Interesting conversation with @dkhos, CEO of @Uber." His ambition for Uber's development in India is very encouraging, particularly his dedication to enhancing Indian drivers' dignity. I'm excited about future collaborations with Dara and his crew! #UberIndia," Adani said in a post on X.

The Uber CEO stated that he had an "absolutely terrific conversation" over breakfast with the leader of the ports-to-energy giant. He also emphasized the mobility service provider's commitment to speeding up the EV transition in India.

Uber has revealed ambitions to replace its whole fleet with electrified vehicles by 2040. As part of its commitment to zero-emission transportation, Uber Green, an ecologically friendly EV service, has been introduced in Delhi.

Adani Group rolls out electric cars and has committed to invest US$100 billion over the next ten years in a variety of commercial areas, including energy transition. The business intends to create 10 GW of solar manufacturing capacity and a large-scale solar farm to produce power from sunshine. In addition, they are investing in battery swapping and EV charging infrastructure.

The Uber CEO visited India last week. During this time, on February 22, the ride-sharing platform Uber inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to explore possible network integration to expand the range of mobility products offered on the Uber app.

The cooperation with ONDC, a non-profit private organization formed by the Indian government's Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, is intended to help Uber achieve its goal of providing all Indians with trustworthy, safe, and competitively priced trips.
