The job description is all about the details of the job role. Check these 8 red flags to watch in the job description

Getting a suitable job isn't an easy task.  Companies ask for many skills, qualifications, and many more which aren't mentioned in the job description also. So for newbies, it's suggested to search for flags in the job description like low pay, a newbie with high experience, over time working. Many online job description mentions wrong details and hires you, this is a big red flag. Check out the 8 red flags to watch in the job description.

While applying for a job or accepting a job, a person should look at the job description and check the presence of the flags in the job description. A person should have an idea about the 8 red flags to watch in the job description. We must check for the flags whether it's an offline job description or an online job description.

  1. Need a highly collaborative team player to lead us into the unknown:

While checking the job description be cautious of the keywords and terms mentioned in the posting. If a job description under-explains the position, duties, or tasks, that should be considered as the main red flag.

A company uses equivocal terms in the description it describes the different things about the tasks, duties, or unknown duties. A person should get all the details of the tasks and duties of the job role. If the company refuses to mention them before joining the organization, consider it a big red flag.

  1. Unpaid trail tasks:

Before getting hired, for employee, it is a must to attend and give a task test or any practical test according to the requirements of the organization. For some tech companies or creative organizations this task test or practical test helps them to filter out the best candidate for the available job role.

Many scammers choose some newbies who are looking for jobs and ask them to complete the task as part of the job process. This is done by many freelancers or lazy bugs who aren't interested to complete the assigned task. You do it for free and the scammers get the perks.

  1. No mention of benefits:

The common and big red flag for freshers is "no mention of benefits". If you join as a full-time employee, you get the pay at month's end, but if you choose to work as a freelancer, you need to be paid for every single task individually. Some companies hire you giving you the tag of a freelancer. The work of a freelancer should be according to the name "freelance", but not like a full-time employee.

Before joining any firm, make sure to check the job hours, if are you hired as a freelancer or full-time. Many tech companies expect their freelancers to work from nine to five. Once a company mentions you as a freelancer, the work time should be flexible and work should be scheduled according to your time. If these points aren't mentioned by the firm, you have a red flag in the job description.

  1. Incentives, perks, and more perks:

In professional life, many young workers focus on the incentives or perks given by the organization like catered lunches, happy hours, and many more rather than career growth, work development, and a knowledge centre.  Mentions of the catered lunch and happy hours may give you excitement, but at the same time, these are the things done by the organization to remunerate the high stress and workload over you. Any special mention of the special perks will be a red flag in the job posting, so beware of these mentions.

  1. Need a rockstar, ninja, or guru:

No one can be perfect. A "perfect candidate" in the job posting means that you need to work alone as a team, which means you need to do all tasks done by a team of 5 to 6 members.

If you are ready to do all the tasks, then ask for equal pay for the tasks assigned. Never settle for low pay.

  1. We're like family here:

Newbies to the organization come across the "we're like family here" phrase in the job posting. So, look for respect, work support, and loyalty in the organization. Family should help you in situations when you are messed up.

  1. Work hard, play hard:

If a company mentions the word "work hard, play hard" in the job description. It presages the work culture will be 24/7 and the work-life balance will be poor. In many techs, "work hard, play hard" is the keyword used to gain responses and applications for thousands of jobs.

  1. Questionable job requirements:

"Questions" – Many questions pop up while applying for a job or accepting a job. If a firm isn't ready to answer questions, the firm may misuse or lead you the wrong way. Some scammers ask you to pay a subscription amount, advance opening a dummy account for salary pay before joining. These are the common practices done by scammers for a money laundering scheme.
