On Thursday, LG Electronics Inc. revealed its plan to integrate Google's Gemini, a versatile AI model, into the introduction of its service, Google's Generative AI-Powered robot CLOi GuideBot, into the robotics industry.
Thus, at the Google Cloud Summit, Seoul 2024 held in the capital of South Korea, the manufacturer of home appliances presented the new version of the CLOi GuideBot. This time it was combined with Gemini AI features.
This is LG’s first generative AI-enabled robot and the first time LG is partnering with Google in the production of robots. The tripartite of GLOi GuideBot, which can be used in airports, hospitals, restaurants, and smart factories, will be launched later this year, the LG team said.
Gemini is Google’s AI chatbot that was launched at the end of last year in direct competition with the ChatGPT of the OpenAI. To incorporate AI into LG’s robot, the firm will enhance the existing models using wireless software, which is known as firmware.
“CLOi embodies our AI vision of Affectionate Intelligence,” the LG team stated and further said that it thinks creative, generative AI will be extending to robots in the future for higher-order functions.
The use of service robots needs advanced AI knowledge and technology. They need to be close to customers and analyze different questions and the environment around them independently to answer in real time.
Thus, thanks to Gemini, CLOi has strengthened its communication ability. It provides more natural and accurate responses to directly and indirectly posed questions, as well as, using voice commands, it composes the required photo backgrounds.
