Generative AI

IEEE Call for Papers on Generative AI for Software Engineering

Harshini Chakka

IEEE is seeking submissions for its groundbreaking study on software engineering's use of generative AI

Leading the way in software engineering and other sectors of technology advancement is the IEEE. One of the key areas of focus is generative AI, which is a subtype of artificial intelligence that can create text, music, and image material. This technique can improve software testing procedures and automate code production, which is very beneficial to software engineering. The IEEE's efforts in this area are fostering innovation by pushing the boundaries of what is practical with AI in software engineering.

Generative AI is the application of generative models and algorithms in software engineering for software development, testing, maintenance, and evolution. Machine learning models that can generate new data from a sequence of inputs, such as text, images, or code, are known as generative models. The way we create software could be completely transformed by GAI, as could the world we live in. In any task, including requirement gathering and design, software engineers can fairly be supported by GAI. By examining stakeholder input and producing preliminary software system needs, GAI, for instance, can assist in gathering requirements. By creating design artifacts from requirements and standards, such as wireframes, architectural diagrams, and user interface designs, GAI can assist during the design phase.

Since GAI is a novel technology, it is difficult to forecast with any degree of accuracy what software engineering jobs it will find applications in. Since GAI for Software Engineering signifies a substantial shift in the process of developing and maintaining software, it is a topic of great interest to readers of IEEE Software. Software engineers, researchers, and professionals with an interest in the nexus between AI and software engineering make up the target audience for this special topic.

Submissions of invited articles on any topic related to GAI for Software Engineering are welcome, including but not restricted to:

Cloud computing, systems with components that are service-oriented, Management of configurations, Human characteristics, education, upkeep and progress, confidentiality, Program transformations and synthesis, automatic fault repair, Systems that recommend, Dependability, Engineering requirements, Software engineering procedures, software product line engineering, software architecture and design, software security, and trust, Verification, validation, and testing

The articles that are submitted must include subjects other than those that are exclusive to technology and will become dated in a few months.

Submission Guidelines

A manuscript's word count cannot be more than 4,200 words, not counting the 250 words each for figures and tables. Submissions beyond these thresholds may be disqualified without a referral. The pieces that we determine are within the theme and scope will undergo peer review and may undergo editing to ensure proper magazine style, clarity, organization, and layout. Make sure you mention the name of the theme you are submitting to.

Articles ought to be written in a way that is understandable to practitioners and with a practical focus. Articles that are extremely theoretical, overly complex, or solely research-oriented are inappropriate; however, if they focus on practical and industrial contexts and include scientific proof, they are welcome. IEEE Software does not republish content that has already been published in other formats, such as print or electronic publications in other journals, formal conferences workshop proceedings, or other venues.
