Why will Careers in Data Science be in Demand in 2023?

Madhurjya Chowdhury

If you are exploring a job or career move in 2023 after six months of tech layoffs, revaluations, concerns about the economy, and a potential recession, you would be forgiven for thinking about which way to jump.

In-house recruiters seem to be among the occupations seeing the most layoffs. In November, Amazon offered buyout offers to hundreds of their recruiters. This was quickly followed by a leaked memo that claimed the business has been outsourcing part of the jobs performed by its recruiters to an AI system known internally as Automated Applicant Evaluation (AAE).

The future of data science

One of the fastest-growing careers in the UK, according to a new survey, is data engineer due to the rapid increase of jobs in data science, data analysis, and data engineering. Both individuals seeking entry-level careers and those currently employed in the area have a lot of opportunities.

Data scientists used to focus more on analytics and modelling, but this is changing as coding and AI become more crucial. The discipline is developing quickly.

The volume of data processing has also altered as a result of the growth of cloud computing. Professionals now frequently look for links within huge data sets—often millions or billions of inputs—and to ensure the right insights are discovered, coding and machine learning abilities are required.

Another area of growth is security. Predictive analytics can be used to identify trends and dangers, help avoid assaults, and keep data safe. 39% of UK organisations reported experiencing a cyberattack in the past year.

BNY Mellon – Specialist, Metrics, and Analytics

A sustainable cost transparency platform developed by BNY Mellon is based on the analysis, suggestions, and results of earlier work. In order to provide trustworthy data aggregation for actionable enterprise analytics and decision-making, the Specialist, Metrics, and Analytics will develop and establish the plan, vision, roadmap, and goals. He or she will also assure standardisation across the organisation.

In addition to having understanding of the Apptio Product Suites, Technology Business Management (TBM), and/or ITIL experience, you will need a bachelor's degree in CS or a closely related field or similar work experience.

Accenture – Data Science Lead

The Dock in Dublin is where Accenture is looking to hire its next Data Science Leader. You will direct your team of data scientists and data designers, create and direct the workflow, and provide outstanding analytics prototypes to clients in the global C-suite.

The chosen candidate will be fascinated by data and the stories it conceals, slicing and dicing it, asking insightful questions, and leveraging it to produce worthwhile results. You must possess good academic credentials, be an authority in a relevant discipline, and be an expert in Python/R and the related data and ML frameworks.

Ripple – Senior Engineer, Data Engineering

A Senior Engineer is needed by Ripple to assist in creating scalable data architecture. By creating self-serving and curated data models, you will democratise access to data, and you will also build and train the data engineers and data operations pods.

For both data warehousing and distributed databases like Bigquery, Snowflake, Presto, or Netezza, you'll need five years of experience. You also require four years of expertise using cloud computing platforms like AWS, GCP, and Azure.
