At Google, the company looks for talented and multi-talking people to fill the data science vacancies. However, Google has mentioned that it is not easy to secure a data science job at the company and the selection and finalization process involves a lot of tough tests and interviews. Google looks for people with an interest in math calculations like linear algebra and calculus, candidates with experience are highly preferred, and also expects the data science professional to be a hardcore engineer. Roles and responsibilities: As a data scientist at Google, the candidate will evaluate and improve the company's products. He/she should collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and analysts on a wide range of problems. The position will bring scientific rigor and statistical methods to the challenges of product creation, development, and improvement with an appreciation for the behavior of the end-user. The candidate should work with large, complex data sets and solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems, applying advanced analytical methods as needed. He/she should build and prototype analysis pipelines iteratively to provide insights at scale. They are also expected to develop a comprehensive knowledge of Google data structures and metrics, advocating for changes where needed for product development.

Other qualifications:

  • The job demands a Master's degree in quantitative disciplines (Statistics, Operations Research, Bioinformatics, Economics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering) or equivalent practical experience.
  • A Ph.D. degree in a quantitative discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in data analysis-related fields, including expertise with statistical data analysis such as linear models, multivariate analysis, stochastic models, and sampling methods.
  • The candidate should have experience with statistical software like R, Python, MATLAB, Pandas, SQL, etc.

Senior Data Analyst, Ads Security, Trust, and Safety

Location: Hyderabad, Telangana, India

Roles and responsibilities: At Google, the trust and safety teams are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of its products. The specific team uses technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and the company's partners from abuse across Google services like search, maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. As a senior data analyst for Ads Security, the candidate will work with cross-functional teams such as PM, Engineering, Sales, and legal, to devise strategies to outsmart the adversaries. One will particularly work on developing data-driven insights to improve the review operations, identify new trends in Malvertising, automation of processes and enforcement, feature engineering/signal development of machine learning models improvements, reverse engineering, etc.

Other qualifications:

  • The candidate is mandated to own a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, a Master's degree is highly preferred.
  • One should have a minimum of 4 years of experience in a related field of Ad security and quality control, Ad operations, Programmatic buying, Analytics, or consulting.
  • A compulsory experience with databases and query languages like SQL, MySQL, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript is required.

Data Analyst, Internal Audit

Roles and responsibilities: The Internal Audit team at Google is designed to protect and enable growth across Alphabet, Google, and the company's bets with objective, practical insights. The team follows the criteria by monitoring the risk environment across Alphabet and provides insights to enable effective risk management. As a data analyst at Internal Audit, the candidate will apply rigorous, data-driven insights and methodologies in working with auditors and cross-functional stakeholders to identify, size, and evaluate risk drivers across Alphabet's diverse product range. He/she is also expected to advise the business on areas of risk and make valuable recommendations on controls. They should work with cross-functional teams including engineering, product management, operations, and finance to identify and quantify risk. The candidate should analyze business, infrastructure, and financial data, for a variety of patterns including fraud, brand risk, control breakdowns, and regulatory non-compliance.

Other qualifications:

  • The candidate should own a Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Behavioural Economics, or equivalent fields.
  • One should have four years of experience in risk, or domain focusing on identifying, quantifying, and mitigating varied harms.
  • The applicant should have experience in SQL and Python.
  • They should have experience applying statistics and machine learning in business problems, building datasets, designing/measuring metrics, and data visualization.

Product Analyst, Engineering

Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

Roles and responsibilities: As a Product Analyst, the candidate is expected to provide quantitative analysis, market expertise, and a strategic perspective to Google's partners throughout the organization. One should be a data-loving person who serves as an analytics expert for their partners, using numbers to help them make better decisions. They should weave stories with meaningful insight from data. The candidate should be versatile in tallying up numbers and communicating with the team and team leader. One should conduct data analysis to make business recommendations. They should develop and automate reports, iteratively build and prototype dashboards to provide insights at scale, solving for business priorities.

Other qualifications:

  • The job mandates a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. Master's degrees in quantitative fields like Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Sciences, are highly preferred.
  • The candidate should have 3 years of experience working with statistical packages such as R, SAS, Stata, MATLAB, etc.
  • He/she should have experience with articulating product questions, pulling data from datasets, and using statistics.
  • Candidates with excellent business judgments are given preference.
