A Free Course To Master Microsoft’s Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)

Market Trends

A single platform to perform and control complex IT operations: That is an apt description of Microsoft's new foray into cloud technology – the Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). With the program's easy, intuitive, open-source API, multiple apps can be managed across various pipelines.

Apply The New Curve In Cloud Technology

The USP of AKS is that anyone can learn the program and become an expert at it. The learning process is made that much easier with the free course developed by Mohamed Radwan. He is an esteemed member of Microsoft MVPs community and works as a   Principal Cloud DevOps in the UK. The 5 comprehensive modules of the course utilises his skills and expertise to simplify the new platform.

Participants who undertake the course will find that each module provides a direct pathway to Docker, Kubernetes, and AKS, making it easy to become experts at containerization and modern engineering in Azure.

Hands-On Learning

Theory is best absorbed when illustrated with practical, real-life case studies. That is exactly what each module intends to achieve. The participant can be at any stage in the learning process – beginner or advanced – but they will find the learning process easy with step-by-step demos.

All the modules are covered in two languages, English and Arabic (عربى).

Course Structure And Modules

The main takeaway from the AKS Deep Dive course is – 5 modules backed by 37 lessons made easy with 33 demos. Plus there are 70 videos available.

The main 5 modules are as follows:

1: Introduction to Main Concepts

This is an easy entry into the new platform. Participants will find key concepts such as application modernization and container orchestration explained through 'Container vs. Virtual Machine'.

2: Docker – A Comprehensive Guide

After the introduction, participants jump right into Docker. They will find extensive coverage of the topic, taking them deeper into concepts such as Understanding Networking in Docker, and Working with Docker composes. They will also find important insights into Working with Docker containers and Understanding multi-stage build.

Any participant will walk away from the module with greater confidence after the lesson on 'How to build and run unit testing inside Docker container'.

3: Practical Work With AKS Containerized Applications

Module 3 is all about practical hands-on work. Participants can expect to gain a better understanding of how the platform actually functions. Subjects such as Kubernetes Architecture and Components, and Kubernetes Resources and Objects are treated with extreme care. Plus an insight into Kubernetes (Kubectl and Dashboard), and Managing and upgrading AKS cluster.

The learning process is further heightened with sessions on Creating and Deploying an application to Windows Server container on AKS. Participants will also find Working with Kubernetes manifest multi-container pod an illuminating demo.

Containerization security in Azure is a key topic covered here followed by an Introduction to OAM and DAPR.

4: Advanced Skills – Networking, Scaling, Helm

From learning, the focus shifts to practical application in Module 4. Important topics are the main focus here – Understanding scaling applications in AKS, Configuring data volumes in AKS using Azure Disks.

The demo sessions provided in the module further illuminate key concepts: Advanced networking with Azure Container Network Interface (CNI) in AKS, and creating volumes with Azure Disks in AKS.

Module 4 enables the participant to develop expert skills with demos such as How to Deploy the application to AKS using CI/CD with Azure Pipeline. The other important session is How to deploy and provision AKS with Terraform.

The module on advanced skills ends with a quick take on Using Helm for Release Management in AKS.

5: AKS Security And Governance

The fifth module completes the AKS picture. Participants can look forward to illuminating lessons on Securing data running on AKS, and Integrating Azure Active Directory with AKS and manage access using RBAC. Other highlights include Monitoring and logging containerized applications using Application Insight, Log Analytics and Azure Monitor.

The demo sessions in the module enable participants to practice key concepts such as Securing network traffic and cluster configuration file and Integrating Azure Active Directory with AKS.

The final module then serves up one of the most important lessons of the course on getting started to Monitor AKS with Continuous Optimization Cloud (CCO) Dashboard.

Summary

Mr. Radwan's free course has only one purpose – to enable everyone to better understand Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). The lessons and demos covered in the 5 comprehensive modules help unleash the full potential of the new cloud platform from Microsoft. The learning process is highlighted with practical experiences that Mr. Radwan has accumulated from his stellar career.

The course hopes to establish an easy pathway to mastering Docker, Kubernetes, and AKS. Important principles such as containerization and modern engineering are easier to grasp with hands-on demos and videos.

The free course is available in two languages, English and Arabic (عربى).
