How Can You Efficiently Defend Against Cyberattacks?

Today cybersecurity is very essential as most of the important data is stored on the internet by companies and businesses. Even as an individual one might have many personal data stored on the internet like passwords, photos, documents, etc. Organization requires strong cybersecurity as demonstrated by attacks against critical infrastructure, the software supply chain, governments, large enterprises, and small-to-medium businesses. By adopting some cybersecurity tricks, organizations can be in the best possible position to defend against cyber threats that lurk online.When asked about their opinions on which sector, they feel is at the highest risk of getting attacked by cybercriminals, out of 268 respondents, around 45.6% of the respondents voted for Banking and Finance. The technology sector stood second with 25% of respondents, whereas, Real Estate sector got the third highest number of respondents at 17.6%. Tagging in the fourth position was the Healthcare sector with 7.4% of respondents and the Education sector stood last with 4.4% of respondents.

According to the survey, around 66.2% of the respondents have admitted that the new normal (after the pandemic) is one of the main reasons behind the increase in cyber-attacks, whereas 19.1% of people think this is not the reason. Around 14.7% of the respondents were not sure.

According to the survey, around 39.7% of the respondents have admitted that they would strive to protect sensitive emails as a priority, about 36.8% of them responded to protecting customer data above all, whereas, 30.9% of the respondents have accepted that protecting financial corporate data is more important. This was followed by 19.1% of the respondents who voted to safeguard sales and marketing data and 17.6% of them have opted for contracts, invoices, and others as a priority. Approximately, 16.2% of them feel saving employee data is also among the priorities, and furthermore, 14.7% of them think saving intellectual property information, meanwhile another 10.3% think protecting health data is critical. However, only 2.9% of the 268 respondents believe that DevOps/development data is important to protect.

When asked about their opinions pertaining to the types of barriers that inhibit professionals from adequately protecting themselves from cyberthreats, about 39.7% of the 268 respondents believe that low security awareness is one of the primary reasons why individuals face cyberattacks, followed by 17.5% who think that the lack of effective solutions available in the market is why the number of cyberattacks is increasing. About 14.3% of them think there is a lack of contextual information from security tools, and 12.7% out of 268 people think poor integration or lack of interoperability between security solutions is why individuals are unable to protect themselves from attacks. Followed by 7.9% of them who think that none of the above explanations account for why people are frequently attacked by attackers. Meanwhile, 4.8% of the respondents are unsure about the correct answer and 3.2% of them think too much effort jeopardizes critical systems.
