According to reports, AIIMS Delhi is under cyberattack and hackers have allegedly demanded roughly Rs 200 crore in cryptocurrency, whose system has been offline for six days in a row. The data breach discovered on Wednesday i.e., 30.11.2022 morning is thought to have compromised the data of 3-4 crore patients.
According to the report, patient care services in the emergency, outpatient, inpatient, and laboratory wings were administered manually because the system was still down due to the cyberattack. The Delhi Police, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the India Computer Emergency Response Team are investigating the ransomware attack. India's AIIMS Delhi is under cyberattack and the Internet connection has been restricted on hospital computers based on the recommendations of the investigative authorities. The data of several VIPs, including past prime ministers, ministers, bureaucrats, and judges, was retained. According to the sources, "Hackers have demanded roughly Rs 200 crore in bitcoin."
In the meantime, the NIC e-hospital database and application servers have been restored. The NIC team is scanning and cleaning other e-hospital servers at AIIMS that are required for the delivery of hospital services.
The databases and applications have been scanned and prepped for the restoration of e-hospital services on four physical servers.
Furthermore, the AIIMS network is being sanitized. Antivirus solutions for servers and desktops are in the works. It has been installed on almost 1,200 of the 5,000 accessible machines. Twenty of fifty servers have been scanned, and the process is running 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
According to a statement issued by AIIMS on Monday (November 28), "Due to the volume of data and the huge number of servers used for hospital services, data restoration, and server cleaning are now underway and taking some time. Cyber security measures are being implemented."
According to government sources, a team from the Central Forensic Lab (CFSL) has been tasked with inspecting the AIIMS Delhi's affected server to determine the source of the malware assault. According to official sources, different divisions of the Union Home Ministry and the IT Ministry are working to repair and restore systems impacted by the suspected malware assault.
According to reports, a formal inquiry into how AIIMS Delhi's servers were hacked has been launched by Delhi Police, and a team from the National Probe Agency (NIA) has also arrived at AIIMS Delhi and joined the investigation.
