The cryptocurrency influencer's Starlink has become a victim of a Bitcoin Scam

Starlink is popularly known as a satellite internet constellation, constructed by SpaceX to provide satellite internet access. The most famous cryptocurrency influencer, Elon Musk is the founder of Starlink. But recently, Starlink is the victim of a malicious Bitcoin scam that offered service at half price to potential customers. These malicious hackers have created a duplicate official website of Starlink to generate a trap. The hackers proposed customers pay US$249 and a month-to-month price of US$49 through Bitcoin in this scam. The official website of Starlink offers US$499 as hardware price and a month-to-month price of US$99. Hackers have focused on the followers of Elon Musk in Iran to earn some huge amount of money rapidly. It is easy to attract customers towards Starlink, with this sudden announcement as it is common for Elon Musk to announce such events with Bitcoin.

The active Twitter and Reddit users realized the Bitcoin scam and pointed out some of the red flags from the duplicated Starlink website. The utmost mistake of malicious hackers is that Starlink has no connection with Iran and Elon Musk has not yet published any news on a relationship with Iran. The hackers mentioned that the payment through Bitcoin will be absolutely confidential to provide Starlink Internet in the Persian language. The users received a form with their name, email address, and phone number in the first step. Then the duplicate site will follow up through a separate mail for the Bitcoin payment. This sign-up process is completely different from the official Starlink website.

Some of the users have already complained that there is a presence of a new Bitcoin scam because the social media account lacks an engagement rate and does not match with the company. Iran is already facing Internet issues and the fraudsters tried to take advantage of it by using Starlink.

Elon Musk has been facing, a lot of scams and frauds in his companies and cryptocurrencies in recent years. He is the easiest target for fraudsters and scammers to take advantage of for attracting other victims towards a trap. In May 2021, cryptocurrency scammers earned US$2 million over the past six months by faking as Elon Musk. They used the popular cryptocurrency influencer who apparently controls the cryptocurrency prices in recent years with his tweets. Consumers incurred a massive loss of over US$80 million in the cryptocurrency scam.

Thus, beware of these cryptocurrency scams or Bitcoin scams and ensure to check all the sites before investing time and money in a scam.
