Crypto Crashing Again: Top 10 Cryptocurrency Prices on June 14th, 2022

Market Trends

The crypto crash that rocketed markets back in May got worse in June 2022.

Cryptocurrency prices of major tokens are nearly all in the red – with the Bitcoin price losing 15% in the space of a few hours earlier this week. Bitcoin finished last week with its lowest close since December 2020.

The crypto market cap has also crashed below $1 trillion for the first time since January 2021. The crypto market cap is now $950 billion and down 67% from an all-time high of $3 trillion reached back in November last year.

Below, we look at the cryptocurrency prices today for Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB, Cardano, XRP, Solana, Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, EverGrow Coin, and Stellar.

Why is crypto crashing again?

Inflation is currently at 8.6% in the United States, according to Consumer Price Index (CPI) data released last week for the month of May.

This is the highest level of inflation seen since December 1981. All markets were spooked by sky-high inflation levels, with the S&P 500 seeing a new yearly low on Monday after falling 4% to $3,750.

Further negative crypto news is likely as policymakers at the US Federal Reserve contemplate raising interest rates later this week.

In specific crypto news, the popular staking and lending platform Celsius has halted all withdrawals, swaps, and transfers. The company cited 'extreme market conditions' were behind the halt, though its own Celsius token is down more than 50% in the past week.

Widespread layoffs and issues have lost faith in the crypto industry to compound into another crypto crash just one month after the Terra Luna collapse.
