Computer vision, in simple terms, is defined as an interdisciplinary scientific field that is imbued with advanced understanding and interpretations of videos and images. This means that computer vision is highly capable to mimic the human visual system. Experts often tag this technology as of the highest forms of IoT i.e. Internet of Things.

Computer vision is trained to understand, analyze, acquire, and process real data and yield results in the forms of numbers and symbols that are used for decision-making purposes. This extraction of data is high-dimensional and is used to transform visual images into descriptions to meet a desired end.

Intel is One such Company to Leverage Computer Vision Solutions

Intel, the company that specializes in the manufacturing of semiconductor computer circuits and of products crafted with intelligent technological solutions of AI and computer vision, is reportedly now leveraging computer vision solutions.

Reportedly, the company has collaborated with John Deere, the Founder of Deere and Company that manufactures agricultural, construction, and forestry machinery, adhering to the needs of farmers and agriculture.

Intel, whose products come with the acute integrations of AI, have partnered up with John Deere to dive deep into and explore more of computer vision solutions. This move has been made with respect to the prospering industry of agtech i.e. agricultural technology that involves robotically plucking pipes and facilities that are equipped with LED. However, all such products are often erroneous, which are not detected at the time of manufacturing. In order to curb the problem, Deere along with Intel have decided upon piloting the program that is based, heavily on artificial intelligence and computer vision technology.

Andy Benko, functioning as the Director of John Deere Construction and Forestry division holds the new introduction of the high end computer vision, in high value.  According to him, welding, which is a complicated process, is becoming impossible to be executed following the traditional methods. Given the fact that market competition is speeding up, the company needs to introduce a suite of technological advancements, amongst which computer vision proves to be promising and bears the potential of supporting the production of high quality machines, which are also efficient.

Combating and Salvaging Challenges made Possible with Computer Vision

All agtech companies often complain about several challenges of welding and manufacturing. The defects seem to trouble the farmers and the agriculture on a whole and hence it is high time to quell the existing problems and also the possible ones.

Treating this as the primary reason, agtechs are largely resorting to AI and computer vision generated solutions to implement them to detect defects to avoid problems later. The pilot program launched by Intel , along with the John Deere Company is an end-to-end software and hardware solution that yields 'insights' by reading the images and the results that are generated and based on the analysis of the
AI and computer vision.

Intel again proves its mettle by assisting a company in leveraging the computer vision for agricultural purposes.
