This Programmers' Day, let's celebrate the advancements that programmers and coders have made so far

Programmers' Day is celebrated on September 13, every year to honor programmers and innovators who make our lives easier by innovating and designing programs. This day is also known as International Programmers' Day, and quite amazingly its celebration is actually based on the binary code. The day is celebrated every year on the 256th day of the year, and now every programmer knows that 256 is actually a special number for various technical reasons. It is represented by an eight-bit byte 256 equals 2 to the eighth power. This digit makes it the highest power of two which is less than 365, and when translated to binary code, the day reads 1 0000 0000. Over the past couple of years, honoring programmers and coders has become a trend as most modern programming and coding professionals are contributing to the development of the IT infrastructure, owing to the ever-growing changes in the tech industry.

Programmers are constantly working on redefining the core of coding and programming to benefit all global industries. Starting from transportation, finance, medicine, and education, coding has become quite essential to the smooth functioning of every service. Almost every major businesses require programmers to maintain their IT infrastructure, especially in the telecommunications industry. Even the automobile industry needs coders and programmers to maintain security and sustainability issues. Programmers are designers who innovate and design to streamline efficiency in all paradigms of industries.

How did the Programmers' day celebration first start?

Apparently, in 2022, Russian programmers Valentin Balt and Michael Cherviakov from Parallel Technologies collaborated and gathered signatures to urge the Russian government to declare the Day of the Programmers. Around 2009, the Ministry of Mass Media and Communications of Russia recognized Programmers' Day as an official holiday. A bill was drawn in honor of computer programmers and was signed by President Dmitry Medvedev. Since this day, countries around the world have started recognizing this day as a show of respect to some of the most important individuals in the tech industry.

How have modern programmers revolutionized traditional coding?

Technological disruption is quite evident in global industries, starting from smart TVs and technologically advanced kitchen appliances, digital puzzles, and OTTs. Coding has become a game-changer in terms of advancing digital transformation and streamlining efficiency. Besides, with the rising prominence of coding in global industries, pursuing a career in programming and coding definitely has a competitive advantage. Earlier, computer programming was outright considered a skill reserved for computer experts and tech geeks, but now the ability to code is an added advantage to advance one's career. Today, coding is a key component of many curriculums, even in primary schools.

Coding has become crucial today because almost everything around us is automated. Humans need to be able to control the interaction between people and machines, and now since researchers are introducing computers and machines that can actually work, hand-in-hand, with humans, computer coding can be customized to harness the full potential of the machines. Now, since coding has revolutionized so has the nature of programming languages. Different programming languages are used by coders for distinct purposes. These languages are used to create the advanced web and mobile applications, and other distributed systems.

Bottom Line

Technological advances do not seem to stop as they are rapidly changing the current global industries. Almost every smartphone app, website, microwave, and even a calculator rely on a code to operate. Thanks to the advancing skills of modern coders and programmers, the world is the helm of dominating almost all paradigms of life. So, Happy Programmers' Day to all the talented programmers and coders who are helping us enhance our digital expertise and grow at the work to walk on better career prospects.
