A success story about IBM's innovative cloud achievements.

Businesses across industries are adopting cloud infrastructures to store large files and applications on remote servers. One of the key benefits of this technology was witnessed during the initial peak of COVID-19 which demanded a sudden shift to remote working. There's a lot of potential for cloud technology and IBM's Cloud Innovation Lab is conducting researchers to develop advanced cloud technologies.

The IBM Research Cloud Innovation Lab (CIL) is working with the company's expertise, skills, and technologies to help clients and ecosystem partners advance their state-of-the-art cloud technologies. One of their recent innovations is the OpenShift hybrid cloud platform which is an enterprise-ready service platform built on Kubernetes. Its main purpose is to provide its users with a platform that can build and scale contained microservice applications across a hybrid cloud.

Another example of the company's research work and contribution is IBM's Cloud for financial services. With an aim to deliver innovations from the lab to the IBM customer, this cloud infrastructure is designed to build trust and enable a transparent public cloud ecosystem with features required specifically for financial services kike security, compliance, and resiliency. Financial institutions like banks can confidently host their purposeful applications in the cloud to transact quickly and efficiently. IBM's cloud for financial services has more than 90 independent software vendor partners and SaaS partners.

The research team at IBM also plays an integral role in creating some of the known IBM Cloud Functions, IBM Kubernetes Service, Multicloud Manager, and Key Protect along with the development and adoption of Istio which is an enterprise service mesh.

We're a part of the digital age where companies are working towards striking a balance between moving faster while navigating through risks. While this is easier said than done, IBM is driving open standards and open-source code to build a seamless hybrid cloud platform, bringing security, compliance, and reliability under the same umbrella of a hybrid cloud.

"It's time to end the trade-off between speed and safety, once and for all" is IBM's aim.

The tech giant's hybrid cloud increases agility while reducing risks which requires all-around innovation. This starts by leveraging open standards and open source code to create a seamless hybrid cloud platform that can be deployable anywhere. With a virtually infinite pool of computing power and capabilities, IBM's hybrid cloud platform enables more flexible, scalable computing, and unifying local environments.

By leveraging AI for code, this platform is easier and safer to adopt through automation. One can automate essential tasks like app modernization, vulnerability detection in code, and troubleshooting of IT reliability issues. Developers and information security officers can work with peace of mind as the platform is designed for security and compliance across all aspects, from the hardware, hybrid cloud platform, to the SecDevOps pipeline.

Back in 2020, IBM's chief executive officer Arvind Krishna's words about the company's big bet on cloud infrastructure and his vision, in a nutshell, was, "IBM is laser-focused on the $1 trillion hybrid-cloud opportunities". The company has evolved with innovation at its core and it is now witnessing strong adoption of cloud-based solutions. At present, more than 2,400 clients are using IBM's hybrid cloud platform which is paving the way for its growth prospects.
