In 2016 he was selected by Mr. Diego Piacentini, former SVP of Amazon and Apple, at that time Extraordinary Commissioner for Digital Transformation of the Italian Government, to form a team of experts to lead digital transformation journey of the Italian Public Administration. In his role as Chief Data Officer of the Government, he ideated and led the DAF, Data Analytics Framework, a project aiming at bringing Big Data and AI capabilities in the public sector, unifying all public sector data to better serve citizens and public administrations.
