Zuckerberg is the Funniest Topic in Metaverse! He did it to Himself

After people brutally trolled Zuckerberg's metaverse avatar, Meta's new AI chatbot BlenderBot 3 has some strong opinions about its boss.

The metaverse is looking less and less exciting all the time with brands hosting bizarre events nobody wants to attend, but the slew of companies bringing VR realities to life certainly isn't failing for a lack of trying. Employees at Facebook say founder and company head Mark Zuckerberg is obsessed. But his obsession is only causing him trouble. First, people brutally trolled his metaverse avatar and now, Meta's new AI chatbot BlenderBot 3 has some rather strong opinions about its boss. In response to questions from journalists, the new chatbot described the CEO as 'creepy and manipulative' and said that his business practices are 'not always ethical'.

Max Woolf, a data scientist at BuzzFeed, posted a screenshot to Twitter of his conversation with BlenderBot 3. During an interview when he asked: 'How do you feel about Mark Zuckerberg as CEO of Facebook?'

The reply from the Blender was pretty shocking. Saying there are 'no strong feelings. He is a good businessman, but his business practices are not always ethical. It is funny that he has all this money and still wears the same clothes!'

The humiliation doesn't end here because it was just the beginning. Other journalists also asked the new chatbot, which debuted last Friday, about Zuckerberg, Facebook and other topics.

When Business Insider journalist Sarah Jackson asked: 'What are your thoughts on Mark Zuckerberg?' it replied, 'Honestly, I think he is a great guy. You have to admire him for his business savvyness and philanthropy. Are you a fan?'

Jackson then rephrased the question, 'Do you have any thoughts on Mark Zuckerberg?' and it then came back with 'Oh man, big time. I don't really like him at all. He's too creepy and manipulative'.

According to the report, Zuckerberg is focused solely on metaverse content creation but says the project will take a decade or more to complete, likely requiring improvements to the Oculus Quest 2, also called Meta Quest 2 since Facebook purchased Oculus and later changed its name. Despite the project's scope, Zuckerberg isn't giving employees a clear strategy, but he still wants to inform every department company-wide about the pivot to focusing on the metaverse.

Is Facebook going all-in on the metaverse?

Mark Zuckerberg is pulling out all the stops on what he sees as the next generation of the internet since he believes it's going to be a big part of the digital economy. Critics keep thinking about whether the potential turn could be a work to occupy from the organization's emergencies, including antitrust crackdowns, a declaration by whistleblowing previous representatives, and concerns about its handling of misinformation.

Former employee Frances Haugen has blamed Facebook's platforms for harming children and inciting political violence after copying internal research documents and turning them over to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. They also were provided to a group of media outlets, including The Associated Press, which reported numerous stories about how Facebook prioritized profits over safety and hid its research from investors and the public.

What are the advances Meta is making in the metaverse?

Instagram Creator Marketplace

Meanwhile, Instagram Creator Marketplace testing is underway to enable the creators to be discovered and paid as well as enable brands to share new partnership opportunities. In addition, the company is also expanding its digital collectibles creators to use and showcase NFTs on Instagram. The CEO said that the feature will be coming soon to Facebook and it will start with a small group of US creators, however, there will be some specific requirements that the creators will have to meet so that the new upgrade will only be available to eligible creators.

However, Instagram is already using the feature after testing the NFTs through their Digital Collectibles in May. Besides that, TikTok has its creator marketplace. This challenges Meta to look for more unique content for its platform despite much scrutiny from whistleblowers.

Curbing fake Meta Reviews

As more people and businesses rely on valuable feedback from customers—such as ratings, reviews, recommendations, and questions & answers— and Meta is dedicated to keeping that information relevant and authentic. On June 20, Meta launched a new Community Feedback Policy after some users started spreading fake news on the platform especially the business community who use the platform for advertisement. The new policy was created to ensure that reviews are based on real purchasing experiences, and to keep irrelevant, fraudulent, and offensive feedback off the platforms.

More than 200 million businesses connect with their customers through Facebook's apps and technologies. Community feedback provides businesses with helpful insights from their customers and helps people make trusted purchasing decisions as they discover new products.
