AI task force to strengthen US-India leadership and collaboration

The U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC) announced on Wednesday the formation of the Artificial Intelligence Task Force (AI-TF), which aims to align India and the United States' leadership in the field of artificial intelligence.

According to a news release from the USIBC, the AI Task Force (AI-TF) will advance AI concepts and principles, drive multistakeholder processes, and encourage the development and commercialization of AI technology. The AI-TF builds on the Chamber of Commerce's AI principles and supports the OECD's AI guidelines.

President of USIBC, Atul Keshap, stated, "As we embark on this transformative journey with the establishment of the AI-TF under USIBC's leadership, our strategic focus is clear."

"The AI-TF is a game changer, especially given the fast-changing world of artificial intelligence. Through this project, we want to unlock AI's enormous potential, boosting competitiveness in both the US and Indian economies, as well as our citizen-led societies," he said.

Keshap emphasized India and the United States combined ambition of forging a future in which artificial intelligence catalyzes growth, promoting innovations that preserve shared values and democratic norms.

Nasdaq Executive Vice Chairman Ed Knight stated, "The creation of USIBC's AI-TF is a major step towards fostering a deeper partnership on the most innovative and transformative technologies of our time."

"The task group will advocate a principled approach to AI adoption, ensuring that these transformational technologies can be used safely and securely. "The USIBC looks forward to continuing discussions with the United States and India as we help strengthen our countries' AI leadership," he said.

Sethuraman Panchanathan, Director of the National Science Foundation in the United States, highlighted the alliance as critical to defining a future characterized by a "trustworthy, safe, and secure AI ecosystem." He emphasized the fast pace of AI development, emphasizing the importance of researchers working together and sharing resources to promote cutting-edge breakthroughs and discoveries while adhering to common ideals and principles.

The USIBC represents top worldwide firms operating in the United States, India, and the Indo-Pacific region. With offices in Washington, DC and New Delhi, USIBC works with its members to identify and advance major policy issues.
