Alessandro Paluzzi, a researcher for the Instagram app, leaked images that suggested the company might be working on an AI chatbot. These AI agents can answer questions and offer advice, according to the leaks, which show app developments that are currently in progress and may or may not be released. AI chatbots have been introduced on other social media platforms to mixed reviews. Initially, Snapchat's My AI chatbot, which was powered by Open AI's GPT technology, lacked age-gating features. As a result, in the end, it told a reporter who was using a teenager's account how to cover up the smell of marijuana and alcohol and set the mood for sex. The paywalled My AI Snaps feature, which lets the AI send you AI-generated images, was also recently made available on Snapchat. The product doesn't work very well at first.
Instagram's chatbots may be powered by a variety of artificial intelligence (AI) tools. However, Instagram's parent company Meta has been utilizing these tools in many established aspects of its business, such as ad sales, as generative AI grows in popularity. In May, Meta reported artificial intelligence Sandbox, which assists publicists with making substitute adaptations of promotions, as well as foundation pictures and picture editing. The company also unveiled CodeCompose, its own AI coding tool, but it is not available to the general public. Before publication, Instagram did not respond to a request for comment.
Instagram is also said to be working on a Twitter competitor while riding the AI hype train. The text-based app, codenamed Barcelona, will be a standalone app that works with Instagram, according to leaked information. While Instagram did not deny the rumors at the time, it did not comment on their veracity. Instagram's Twitter-like competitor should launch this summer, according to rumors.
