Qualcomm unveils 2 new Snapdragon chips to power the next generation of smartphones.

Qualcomm AI is transforming industries by accelerating the global commercialization of AI. The chipmaker Qualcomm announced two Qualcomm's new chips to power the next generation of smartphones with AI enhancement. Qualcomm's next generation of mobile processors might be helpful in bringing flagship features to more midrange smartphones devices with this upgraded discovery.

Qualcomm's chip Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 allows users to capture 108 MP photos and video with computational HDR via support for staggered HDR image sensors — a first in the Snapdragon 6-series. Whereas, Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 provides impressive performance and AI to build interactions seamlessly and intuitively. This chip also offers newfangled photography features with upgraded connectivity, the company said in a statement. Although these two Qualcomm's new chipsets can connect to 5G, only the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 can tap into both mmWave and sub-6Ghz 5G for speedy connectivity — the 4-series chip is restricted to sub-6GHz only. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is, similarly, the only one of the two that can use the upgraded Wi-Fi 6E standard, as the 4 Gen 1 is stuck with the older Wi-Fi 5.

Smartphone devices powered by Snapdragon 6 are predicted to be available in Q1 2023, while devices based on Snapdragon 4 are likely to be available in the ongoing third quarter. "Both Snapdragon 6 and Snapdragon 4 provide upgrades in their respective series to enable advancements in the capture, connectivity, entertainment, and AI. These new mobile platforms help our customers to deliver advanced solutions for consumers," told Deepu John, senior director, of product management, at Qualcomm Technologies. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 permits users to capture 108 MP photos and video with computational HDR via support for staggered HDR image sensors — a first in the Snapdragon 6-series.

Snapdragon 6 features the 7th Gen Qualcomm AI Engine offering up to three times improved AI performance in comparison to its predecessor for intelligent assistance across the board, including AI-based activity tracking. "With hard-hitting gaming features that deliver up to 35 percent quicker graphics rendering and up to 40 percent faster processing, Snapdragon 6 powers HDR gaming at an ultra-smooth 60+fps while delivering real-time responses and high-quality visuals for winning entertainment," stated the company. Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 boasts impressive performance and multi-day battery life. The platform offers up to 15 percent upgraded CPU and up to 10 percent improved GPU compared to the previous generation, allowing users to multitask smoothly and enjoy immersive entertainment.

Qualcomm AI is constantly upgrading industries by accelerating the global commercialization of AI. Qualcomm AI makes the impossible possible with an expansive portfolio of platform solutions that gives our partners flexibility and reliability in designing high-quality AI apps and experiences.
