Google’s Visual Inspection AI to Inspect the Manufacturing Units

Shivani Muthyala

The Google Cloud in 2019, identified six sectors contributing to its growth. These are public, healthcare, financial services, retail, media, businesses, and manufacturing. The cost of quality control and inspection continues to be high in the manufacturing sector. With increasing demand, it is difficult for humans to inspect the defects in computer chips and other products manually. To tackle this problem Google Cloud has announced visual inspection AI.

This visual inspection AI is built to assist in businesses reducing defects and quality control costs. Visual inspection AI focuses to automate quality assurance in a workflow. Previously the visual inspection process was taken care of manually, where the chances of human error could be possible. But with businesses turning towards using AI, this can be significant in cutting down the cost as well as control the errors.

According to the Kyocera Communication systems, which is a major manufacturer of mobile phones for wireless service providers, Visual Inspection AI is an innovative service that can be used by any non-AI engineer as well. Visual Inspection AI can improve accuracy more than ten times that of humans. Apart from just detecting Visual Inspection AI, it can classify, and efficiently relocate multiple defective products.

Visual Inspection AI can be used in various ways in the manufacturing sector. For instance, Automotive manufacturing can use it for paint shop surface inspection and look for dents, scratches if any. This can be a great step in deploying artificial intelligence in the industries.
