Google is planning to use publicly available information to train its AI models

The dominant search engine Google is now creating its own massive language AI model called Bard and training it using data that is readily available to the public. According to Gizmodo, Google's amended privacy policy says that the firm would utilize publicly available information to create and train its products and services, such as Google Translate, Google Bard, and Cloud AI capabilities.

 "Google uses the information to improve our services and to develop new products, features, and technologies that benefit our users and the public. For example, we use publicly available information to help train Google's AI models and build products and features like Google Translate, Bard, and Cloud AI capabilities."

According to the paper, the internet becomes an artificial intelligence playground for corporations that train these enormous language models using publicly available data under these new regulations.

While this technique will help Google create better generative tools, it is believed to exploit the internet's openness. Elon Musk believes that the Twitter read restriction was implemented to prevent enterprises from scraping data from the site to train their AI models by restricting data access to people and corporations.

It's also been reported that Reddit's new API fees are meant to prohibit businesses from freely harvesting data from subreddits. Using publicly available data to train AI models has raised debate about copyright and how a few corporations dominate the internet.
