It is not very difficult to envisage the prospect of AI in education sector being an aid to diminish illiteracy rates. Although, very utopic an approach and a prospect, it has been considered by countries on a worldwide basis. Let's take a closer look at it.

The high illiteracy quotient is still persistent

UNESCO has accorded that the illiteracy rates in South Africa, some parts of Europe and India is still high and no measure is being effective in quelling it.

The causes for low literacy rates are:

1. Untrained and unskilled teachers

Artificial intelligence has evolved a lot since its advent. It has manifested its positive potential in sectors like that of in science, technology, finance and banking. Although the manifestation has also been made in the education where EdTech companies are utilising artificial intelligence to their benefit and are blooming.

However, talking on ethical and moral lines, education or literacy on a whole should not be subjected to any demarcation. Education should not be partial. But, it is because of certain logistical problems mentioned above.

AI and education were mingled with an objective to bring forth an illiteracy free world because it is to best of our knowledge that for a nation to progress intellectually, it is important that education and literacy is disseminated to every nook and cranny of the world.

Democratizing Literacy: A step taken towards altering the future of literacy

AI can be used efficiently in the nuanced strata of the societies by stretching the marriage of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning programs by conducting philanthropic activities.

The primary need of the hour is to etch out possible ways to disseminate AI literacy in the underprivileged areas of the world.

Teaching methods that include visual aids and diagnostic aids suggest use of podcasts and presentations to aware people about the existence of AI-driven education system. EdTechs should voluntarily shoulder the responsibility to conduct campaigns aimed at educating the nuanced areas about the usability of AI.

Government should design policies to incorporate AI technologies in the education infrastructure of government schools and fund workshops so that students can make out most out of them.

Prevalent challenges that can be resolved?

The idea to disseminate AI literacy to the underprivileged and the socially disadvantaged areas is promising. It thickens the chances of eradicating issues of fraudulent activities and unemployment.

Progression of a nation is multi-versed. It includes intellectual progress, literacy progress, progress made in safety and security and all such aspects that one can imagine.

Resolving Unemployment:

Incorporation of AI based learning strategies in education infrastructures of the areas where it is not aggressively available, can lower the chances of unemployment by creating more job opportunities.

Resolving issues on Frauds

It has been recorded time and again that technologically strong and rich countries and nations have lower rates of fraudulent activities. Hence, the minimal chances of frauds that are left can be cut down by the increase of literacy rates through AI.

Skepticisms entailed

Use of AI and education, at large, has been a topic of controversy and debates amongst intellectuals. Economists and sociologists, to be precise, do not find the duo very efficient for teaching and learning as the critical presence of a human teacher cannot outright be denied. It is also feared that machines and AI will soon be replacing teachers, making education even more complicated and difficult an affair.

However, this is the challenge experts are working on to maintain a balance of both because truly too much of a good thing can be harmful.
