However, 80 data scientists are working for British Airways to find out solutions to these issues. Parent company International Airline Group has initiated an accelerator program named as Hangar 51.

Features of Hangar 51:

•  Successful applicants will spend approximately 70 days working with British Airways staff in order to develop ideas and test products.

•  The program could represent an extraordinary opportunity for the right startups who want to build their product and analyze its functioning practically.

The officials said that airline is hoping that AI will change tracking and predicting delays before they happen. It can streamline the movement of cargo and bags and reduce lines. Also, future applications will aim at waste management and loyalty programs.

The team at airlines collaborating with data scientists is already working on ML algorithms for proper arrangements of fresh food, reducing waste and ensuring passenger comfort.

Moreover, many of these technological works are still at a very early stage as it takes time to develop and can't be built overnight.
