Bill Gates meets PM Modi, shares India's innovation and growth lessons

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, who is currently in India, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed various issues, including artificial intelligence (AI). Gates stated that meeting the prime minister is always stimulating and that there is always enough to talk about. During his visit, the billionaire also had meetings with several ministers, including S Jaishankar, Mansukh Mandaviya, Hardeep Singh Puri, and Rajeev Chandrasekhar.

Bill Gates meets PM Modi, Gates shared, "It is always inspiring to meet with Prime Minister Modi, and there was a lot to discuss. We discussed AI for the public good, women-led development, agriculture, DPI,  health, and climate adaptation innovation, as well as how we might apply India's lessons throughout the world. He also posted a photo of the meeting with Prime Minister Modi.

Responding to Gates's post, Prime Minister Modi stated that it is always a delight to meet Gates and discuss many issues. The meeting between the two leaders signifies the importance of collaboration and dialogue between the government and industry leaders to drive meaningful change and innovation.

Bill Gates also met with Minister of Family Welfare and Health Mansukh Mandaviya to address a variety of healthcare concerns, including the development of digital health and low-cost diagnostics. Gates expressed his enthusiasm for digital health innovations like the Arogya Maitri Disaster Management Cube-BHISHM and discussed the shared commitment to leverage Indian research and technology to eliminate diseases like TB, sickle cell, and maternal anemia.

Further, Gates met with Hardeep Singh Puri and Rajeev Chandrasekhar, along with a few entrepreneurs, including Zomato's Deepinder Goyal, at the former's residence. They talked about existing partnerships and potential opportunities for collaboration. Gates praised the country's growth story, citing it as an example of the power of collective effort in driving impactful change.

Gates also met with Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar to discuss India's G20 presidency, DPI, health, education, and women's economic development. Gates highlighted India's economic growth and innovation as exciting, expressing bullishness on the country's potential. He also lauded India as a global vaccine leader, noting that they are investing with their partners to develop "lots of new vaccines."

In an interview with ANI, Gates elaborated on his optimism about India, stating, "The strength of India today, in terms of economic growth, and innovation, is very exciting." He emphasized India's role as a global leader in vaccine development and praised the country's efforts in addressing various global challenges through innovation and collaboration.
